Is Talkstream HIPAA compliant?
Yes. Talkstream signs BAAs before launch, and every healthcare agent is configured with PHI redaction, strict access controls, and audit logging. We run on Vida's HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, which is designed to meet the requirements for safeguarding Protected Health Information. ePHI is redacted and not stored on HIPAA accounts.
How is Talkstream different from Vida?
Talkstream is built on the Vida platform with full feature parity, but we're specifically designed for private practices and clinics that don't have IT teams or compliance officers to manage AI deployments. We handle everything end to end, including the BAA and HIPAA configuration. Vida targets enterprises and health systems with in-house engineers. Talkstream targets the practice manager juggling the schedule, the phones, and the front desk.
Can it integrate with my EMR?
Yes. Talkstream integrates natively with Athena Health, and connects to most major EMR and practice management systems via API, webhooks, or Zapier. During onboarding, we'll map out the integrations you need and configure them for you.
Can the agent handle triage?
Your agent can be trained to recognize urgent symptoms and escalate them to clinical staff immediately. For true emergencies, it's instructed to direct patients to call 911 or go to the ER. Non-urgent symptoms are routed to nurse callbacks or same-day appointments based on your rules.
Do I need to replace my phone system?
No. Most practices forward their existing number to their Talkstream agent. You can also port your number to us if you prefer. Either way, your practice number stays the same to your patients.
How long does setup take?
Most practices are live within 2 to 3 weeks of kickoff, including HIPAA configuration and EMR integration. We do the building. You review and approve.
Will it sound robotic or clinical?
No. Our agents are trained to sound natural, warm, and professional. We'll share test calls during onboarding so you can hear it handle sensitive patient conversations before it ever speaks to a real patient.
Will the agent give medical advice?
No. Your agent is trained to schedule appointments, answer factual questions about your practice, and route clinical questions to the appropriate staff. It's explicitly instructed to never provide medical advice or diagnose conditions.
What happens if the agent can't handle a call?
It transfers the call to a staff member with full context. The person answering gets a quick summary so they're not starting from scratch. For urgent clinical matters, calls are escalated immediately based on your triage rules.
Can it handle Spanish-speaking patients?
Yes. All Talkstream agents support English and Spanish out of the box, which is especially valuable for primary care, pediatrics, and community health practices. More languages are rolling out.
How much does it cost?
